New National Training Package Projects: Carbon, Agribusiness Management and Viticulture

Two new national projects are now underway to review qualifications, skill sets and units of competency relating to carbon farming, agribusiness management and viticulture. Note that carbon farming includes conservation, land management and farming activities that reduce emissions or sequester carbon dioxide in the landscape. The projects were approved by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) after these skills were identified as a priority in the 2018-2021 Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management IRC Skills Forecast and Proposed Schedule of Work. Endorsement of the Specialised Textiles Apprenticeship in WA

Minister Sue Ellery has endorsed the establishment of the Specialised Textiles Apprenticeship (Ref: Gazette No. 131 / 04-Sep-2018) in Western Australia. The Apprenticeship will be available from 4 October 2018. Trainees currently enrolled in the Traineeship will be provided with the option to vary their training contract to the Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship is also available as a school based training pathway which could be continued post school.
