The WA Government Stimulus Package includes:
$114 million in additional measures to support small businesses
Small businesses that pay payroll tax will receive a one-off grant of $17,500
$1 million payroll tax threshold brought forward by six months to July 1, 2020

Apprentices and Trainees
Federal Government
The Federal Government is helping small businesses to retain their apprentices and trainees. Eligible employers can apply for a wage subsidy of 50 per cent of the apprentice’s or trainee’s wage for 9 months from 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020. Where a small business is not able to retain an apprentice, the subsidy will be available to a new employer. The wage subsidy will be claimable for wages paid since 1 January 2020.

WA Government
COVID-19 may impact the continuity of an apprentice or trainee’s training contract directly or indirectly. The Department of Training and Workforce Development Apprenticeship Office is taking a flexible approach to help businesses maintain the employment of their apprentices/trainees where possible.

TAFE colleges are changing their delivery of training
From Monday, March 30 until April 9, there will be a temporary pause in face-to-face delivery of most courses
Lecturers and non-teaching staff will prepare to move to a new style of training in Term 2

Initiatives to supply agricultural labour
The WA Government has released a new 'Here for WA' campaign to connect job seekers with opportunities across regional Western Australia. The McGowan Government and FoodAllianceWA have launched a dedicated program to support jobs and fill labour shortages in the agriculture and food industry across Western Australia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new website - http://www.jobsinwafoodandag.com - will allow workers seeking employment in regional WA to register their interest and connect with regional employers, labour hire companies and recruitment businesses looking for casual, skilled and unskilled workers.
