Food, Fibre and Timber Industries Training Council is collecting input on any issues and challenges our industries are experiencing and how best the WA Government can allocate resources to meet the skills, education, and training needs. Your information is crucial to our work.

 

The 2024 Update provides a snapshot of the developments taking place across WA in support of economic diversification. Areas covered in the update include Key Infrastructure Projects; Space Industries; Global Advanced Industry Hub; Trade Investment

 

The National Student Ombudsman will be a new statutory function of the Commonwealth Ombudsman and will begin taking complaints from 1 February 2025.

 

Jobs and Skills Australia welcomes feedback on this consultation paper by Friday 28 February 2025 at 5pm AEDT. 

 

The National Foundation Skills Strategy 2025–2035 sets a shared direction for Commonwealth, state and territory governments for adult foundation skills nationally over the decade 2025–2035 and reflects Skills Ministers' shared commitment to build foundation skills levels among Australian adults.

 

Community Stewardship Grants are available annually to support community-based projects that serve to protect and restore the local environment, enabling local community groups to undertake stewardship of natural resources in their local area.

 

This program is designed to help established business owners drive profitability and improved performance for 2025 and beyond. 

 

MGET is hosting a workshop so that employers can learn about the benefits of employing an apprentice or trainee; How apprenticeships work; How to find the right candidate and Financial incentives for your business.


The Essential Meat Processing Skills project is approaching its final consultation phase. Skills Insight would like to confirm the drafts are in line with expectations and seek final stakeholder feedback. The draft documents will be available for comment late January 2025, and they invite you to join them to discuss the drafts during an online consultation session:

This session will focus specifically on the draft Certificate II in Meat Retailing and accompanying units of competency relevant to meat retailing.

Heat stress may affect people in all parts of Western Australia during our summer months and may affect workers at some workplaces throughout the year.  Worksafe has updated its resources on how to avoid heat illness and manage working in hot weather. 

 

 

Fruit Fly has been detected in Perth's southern suburbs. Qfly is an invasive pest which attacks more than 300 species of fruits and vegetables and could seriously impact Western Australia’s horticulture industries and home-grown produce.
